Ship Recycling Facility

Ship Recycling Facility

RA Shipyard boasts a 2295 sq mt front yard, which makes it suitable for recycling all kinds of ships including VLCC’s. It is fully covered with impermeable concrete flooring and a state-of-the-art drainage system, thus meeting all international standards.

The concrete flooring at our site prevents oil seepage back into the sea, thereby making it environment friendly. Our well-mapped drainage system ensures that the excess oil and waste is safely gathered and then sent to a suitable waste recycling plant. Containing and effectively disposing hazardous waste thereby striving towards a cleaner environment is a strong motto of our company.

We use an american 9310 crane that has the capacity of 225mt with a 150 ft boom to lift blocks from the ship and place them directly on the impermeable block. Machinery that can potentially leak oil is covered then lifted and placed on the impermeable black without any material touching the intertidal zone.

At our spacious 5600 sq mt backyard, we receive the large steel blocks from the front yard for recycling into smaller sizes which are then assorted and delivered to steel recycling mills.

The site is also home to essential infrastructure and equipment such as oxygen storage tanks, fire-fighting equipment, electric rooms, toilets, waste storage area, hazardous waste storage areas, etc.

At RA Shipyard, we take pride in our scrupulous maintenance of vital records including laboratory analytical results, manifests, shipping documents, waste shipment records, records of training and exercises/drills, worker accidents, injuries and medical or health records, amongst others.
